Just had a Solatube Whole House Fan. I've been wanting to do this for years. Keeps the house cooled at night pulling in the cool evening air from outside. Unit is quiet, very low sound signature, and allows the house to be cooled with ambient air rather than "conditioned air" and cost/power consumption is way less. Highly recommend this product.

It is loud.
Bought a whole house fan for a 1500 square-foot house and dealing with the company was great, 5 stars. The reason for only 2 stars is because of the sound. It's extremely loud. Nobody in our house wants to use it while we're there. Even with the bedroom doors closed it's too loud to sleep and it defeats the purpose because it can't pull air through the bedroom windows if the doors are closed. With it on it's too loud anywhere in the house. It is much much louder than our air conditioner because all of the air rushes through a small grate in the ceiling. Maybe if we got the smaller fan it would be quieter.

The price tag is worth it!
We had a whole house fan and a solar powered garage ventilating fan from Solatube. The prices are very competitive. Both fans work as advertised. The whole house fan quickly cools the entire hose as soon as it's cooler outside than inside. It is turned on and off by a provided remote control which includes a scheduler if you prefer. The garage fan runs whenever the sun shines. It greatly cools our otherwise very hot garage. I recommend Solatube.
