Solatube HSE Performance Series Skylights

A view of the sky. A brighter place to be.

Daylight over the kitchen table. A glimpse of blue sky from the bathroom. A fresh breeze through an open skylight. Start with the experience you want in your room.

Choose a Premium Fixed skylight for natural light, or a Solar-Powered Fresh Breeze operable skylight for daylight and ventilation. Both offer flat architectural glass, insulated dual-pane construction, and a choice of Clear or SoftLight™ Glass.

A sitting room illuminated by two Solatube fixed skylights

01 / Choose your experience

Beautiful daylight, with or without a fresh breeze.

Both styles bring natural light through a glazed roof opening. The difference is whether you want the skylight to open.

DAYLIGHT

Premium Fixed Skylights

A simple choice when natural light and a sky view are your priorities. The fixed glass assembly stays closed and mounts over a prepared roof curb.

Low-E, argon-filled glazing and integrated thermal barriers help limit heat transfer. Tempered outer glass and laminated inner glass provide safety glazing.

DAYLIGHT + VENTILATION

Solar-Powered Fresh Breeze Skylights

Open the skylight from the included remote when outdoor conditions suit your home. A solar panel charges the battery that powers the opening mechanism.

A built-in rain sensor initiates closing when rain is detected. The system operates without household electrical wiring.

02 / Shape the daylight

A clear view or softly diffused light.

Choose your glass on the product page. Clear and SoftLight™ options are available for both fixed and operable models.

Clear Glass

Enjoy daylight with a view through the glass to the sky. Choose this when the outdoor view is part of the room's appeal.

SoftLight™ Glass

Soften incoming daylight, reduce glare, and spread light more evenly. Choose this when you prefer a luminous ceiling opening to a clear sky view.

Performance Skylight Shade for adjusting daylight

Optional daylight control

Add a Performance Skylight Shade

Adjust the light as your day changes with a pleated polyester shade in a powder-coated aluminum frame. Operate it by hand when within reach, or use the optional telescoping pole, which extends up to 16 feet.

Shade and pole are separate purchases. Confirm the shade size and interior clearance for your skylight before ordering.

03 / Choose the size that fits

Two standard sizes. Four ways to bring the sky indoors.

Start with your existing curb dimensions for a replacement. For a new opening, choose the location and size with your installer, considering framing, room layout, roof access, and the interior shaft.

04 / Plan the roof connection

A good replacement starts with a sound curb.

Have the existing curb, flashing, and waterproofing inspected before fitting a replacement skylight. A new installation also needs coordinated framing and an interior shaft or ceiling finish.

Bring these details to your project

  • Outside curb dimensions and interior opening measurements.
  • Roof pitch, covering, and condition of the flashing.
  • Room location and the interior shaft or ceiling finish.
  • Fixed or operable preference and your glass choice.
  • Solar exposure and opening clearance for an operable model.
  • Shade size and clearance if you want daylight control.

Check the guide before ordering

The current installation guide specifies a roof slope of at least 3:12 (15°) for drainage. It states that these HSE skylights are not rated for High Velocity Hurricane Zones.

Curb-fixing screws and snap spacers are listed as ordered separately; insulating weather seal is not provided. Confirm the installation materials needed for your roof.

Before you choose

Answers for a brighter start.

Should I choose fixed or operable?

Choose fixed when your priority is daylight and a sky view. Choose the solar-powered Fresh Breeze model when you also want an opening for ventilation. Both offer Clear and SoftLight™ Glass.

Does an operable skylight need electrical wiring?

The integrated solar panel charges the battery for the opening mechanism. Household electrical wiring is not required for that operation. The included remote operates the skylight, and a rain sensor initiates automatic closing.

Are skylight shades included?

Performance Skylight Shades and the optional extension pole are separate purchases. Match the shade to your skylight dimensions and confirm the space available in the interior shaft.

Can I order using my old skylight's advertised size?

Measure the actual curb and interior opening first. A nominal 2 × 2 or 2 × 4 label alone does not confirm replacement fit. Share your measurements and photos with your installer or a Solatube specialist.

What warranty applies?

Coverage includes a 10-year limited warranty on metal frame and PVC components and 20 years on insulated glass against condensation inside the glass. Operable solar motor assembly components, including the panel, sensor, motor, and remote, have 5-year coverage. See the full terms.

How is this different from a tubular Solatube skylight?

These glass skylights use a glazed roof opening and interior shaft or ceiling opening. A Solatube tubular skylight collects light at the roof and carries it through reflective tubing to a ceiling fixture. The roof construction, room, and desired view help determine which approach fits your project.
